We really have been incredibly fortunate this whole school year with a tolerable heat at the start of the year, a relatively mild winter, and utterly gorgeous and long fall and spring. The rain showers and excitement of Little 500 and April have come to a screeching halt. An almost eerie silence has fallen over campus in the last week as students rush to finish term papers and study for final exams.
My older cousin told me that college is just learning how to balance everything and proving you can take on anything. I think if nothing else, finals week is a testament to that. Yet even with all the stress that comes with writing a 13 page paper about female Latin American presidential candidates (yes, as obscure as it is, this is true) or studying for a Spanish final that seems to cover enough material for three classes, I have had an amazing year and an incredible semester and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I've met former presidents, gone hiking in nationally renowned state forests and rock climbing, seen Broadway shows, met some of the most amazing people from all over the world and learned from some of the most incredible professors the world will probably ever see.
As I'm sure you've probably gathered from the gushing comments I've posted over the course of this year, I love it here at IU and in Bloomington. The harsh reality that the school year is almost over truly makes me sad. I will miss walking through the Old Crescent, being around the incredible people I continue to meet, and being apart of the excitement that is always buzzing around campus. Luckily for me, IU will be close all summer. I am leaving in eight days to study abroad with the School of Journalism for ten days in Santiago, Chile. When I get home to Phoenix, I have two incredible internships with Phoenix Children's Hospital and United States Senator Jon Kyl to keep me busy all summer, and my coursework and experiences at IU have more than prepared me.
So Bloomington, its not 'Goodbye', its 'I'll miss you dearly, but I will see you soon.'
